The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in locating a man who escaped from the back of a police car in our area on Monday evening.
Cops say that 26-year-old Darnell Thomas broke free from police custody near the 78th Precinct station house, getting out of a marked police car at Atlantic Avenue and South Portland Avenue at about 6:30pm on April 7.
He is described as 5’8″ tall, and was last seen wearing a white shirt, a jacket with gold zippers, and two gold earrings in each ear.
Reports on Twitter add that the man was still in handcuffs when he took off.
