A much-need repaving begins today for a pothole-ridden roadway in Park Slope.

6th Street, from Prospect Park West all the way to 4th Avenue, is undergoing a complete renovation.

Work began on the section of the roadway between 8th Avenue and Prospect Park West.

“We’ll probably start here,” a DOT worker said, referring to the stretch between 8th Avenue and Prospect Park West, “then from 7th Avenue down towards 6th.” The area intersecting Methodist Hospital would be last, due to its difficulties with heavy traffic in and out of the area.

All residential vehicles were ordered to clear the area before the work commenced.

The work is part of many repaving projects ongoing this week in our neighborhood and throughout the borough, and Community Board 6 reports that “additional resurfacing work is expected to occur in another phase over the summer.” The entire extent of the DOT’s weekly repaving schedule, from East Williamsburg to Brighton Beach (and everywhere in between) is available here.
