Will it never end? The National Weather Service has announced a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 p.m. tonight to 6 p.m. Thursday. The rain is expected to start this afternoon, turning to snow as the temperature drops tonight with a possible accumulation of 2 to 4 inches by Thursday morning.
The real issue, though, will be the winds. We can expect winds between 40-50 mph tonight, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, and residents are being warned of the possibility of downed tree branches and power lines. Prospect Park is urging people to stay out of parks and proceed with caution on tree-lined sidewalks.
The snow is expected to continue through Friday, though the winds will die down by then. To report downed trees or branches, please contact 311. In case of emergency, please call 911.
