So it’s January 28th. I know, right? Where did the time go? Let’s take this moment to assess 2013 so far.
Has it been fun? Sick? What have been your highlights/lowlights? I think my highlight was probably Justin Timberlake’s announcement that he would be debuting a new song, and then my lowlight was actually hearing the song. Share yours in the comments! And, who knows, maybe your January 2013 highlight is at any of these upcoming events. You should probably check them out, just in case.
Monday: If pub trivia doesn’t quite cut it for you, stop by the Bell House and watch NPR’s Ask Me Another. Host Ophira Eisenberg (pictured above) puts questions to a rotating band of puzzle experts, audience members, and special mystery guests, while viewers get to just watch the comedy unfold. And a bonus: Jonathan Coulton acts as house musician, providing great tunes and witty banter.
149 Seventh Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenues, 8:00 p.m. show/7:30 p.m. pre-show/6:30 p.m. doors, $10 tickets available here.
Tuesday: Get moving at Barbès with Slavic Soul Party. The nine-piece-band brings Gypsy brass, Balkan anthems, and American funk together for a raucous night of dancing. Even the New York Times has recognized their “reputation for delivering a good time.” See what the hype is all about.
376 Ninth Street at 6th Avenue, 9:00 p.m., $10 strongly suggested donation
Wednesday: Stoop favorite Greg Johnson is back at Union Hall with friends for another live comedy show. Special guests this week include Gary Gulman, Joe List, and Team Submarine. Go, say hi, share a drink after the show, and make a new friend.
702 Union Street at Fifth Avenue, 8:30 p.m. (8:00 doors), $5 tickets available here.
