We’ve been hearing from the MTA that the Smith-9th Sts station will be closed “all times until Fall 2012,” but now that fall is coming to its official end, we find out that the station isn’t slated to reopen until April.
MTA released the details of the project in its notes from December’s Capital Program Oversight Committee Meeting. The rehabilitation project looks to go a bit over the goal budget of $40.6 million initially projected in July, now forecasted to cost $41.3 million by the time of its completion in April.
The MTA cites the cause of the delay as “contractor’s poor management, insufficient manpower and quality control, and other design issues.”
