If you live on or near President Street, you’ve likely encountered this street creature between 7th & 8th Avenues. He came into our lives (and hearts) shortly after Sandy hit, livening up what had otherwise been a bit of a nuisance. First we walked around the raised concrete. Soon we adapted, eventually mastering the walking-sideways routine and incorporating some unexpected parkour skills into our daily lives.
Well, it’s back to boring old sidewalk. The city removed the stump last night, and this morning some fresh pavement was in its place.
Farewell, street creature. You’ve been great.
