Prospect Park has been providing one of the best ways to celebrate Halloween since its first “ghoulish makeover” in 1981, and this year you can help keep the costumed crowds happy by signing up to volunteer! The celebration takes place on October 26 and 27, and it provides some of the most creative volunteer opportunities of the year:
Creepy Crawly Halloween at the Boathouse: Help prepare the Audubon Center’s educational exhibits and event activities and/or assist with children’s activities, including dissecting owl pellets and making slime. There are two shifts on both Saturday and Sunday. Please sign up for however many shifts you would like to work.
Halloween Carnival: Game Leaders assist children with games, such as ball toss and short races, and hand out prizes. Carnival Greeters assist with traffic control and answer questions from the public. The Carnival will take place on the Nethermead.
Haunted Carousel: At the Haunted Carousel, assist children on and off of horses and direct patrons to the correct entrance and exit gates. There are two shifts available on each day; please sign up for one or more shifts.
Halloween Haunted Walk: Volunteers are needed to help as costumed characters, walking guides, and the essential behind-the-scenes crew to support the whole event. The Haunted Walk will take place on Lookout Hill.
Lefferts Historic House: At Lefferts, Craft & Crowd Control Assistants will enjoy encouraging creativity in children by working with crafts. You should also expect to help manage the flow of people through the house. There is a shift on Saturday and Sunday; please sign up for one or both.
