Heading to any Labor Day parties or barbecues this weekend? Stop by the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket today and gather up some goods to bring. Our suggestion? The summer veggie-filled Panzanella, a cool summer salad traditionally made with diced bread, tomatoes, onions, basil, and dressed with olive oil and vinegar. But go for it if you’ve got other vegetables laying around, too! Go ahead and add those peppers or cucumbers, and even throw in some goat cheese from Lynnhaven Farm.
The Park Slope Farmers’ Market is still on tomorrow, and it’s a good time to check it out their four new vendors if you haven’t already. Visit Butterstein’s Popcorn, which sells New England maple syrup-flavored kettle corn from their custom-built popcorn-mobile; Drink More Good, which creates and sells bitters and soda syrups with all-natural ingredients; Eden Fresh, creators of delicious vegetarian Mediterranean items like hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, and more; and Stone & Thistle Farm, the vibrant livestock farm with hundreds of sheep, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, goats, ducks, pigs, and a herd of about thirty cattle.
The GAP Greenmarket runs Saturdays from 8am-4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10am-4pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave
