Amber Sushi opened at 847B Union Street on Thursday, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend rush. It is the second location for owners May and Jason Liu, who also run the Japanese restaurant Hanabi in the Upper East Side. The Park Slope outpost is primarily a takeout and delivery spot, but the interior is nice and spacious enough to sit down and enjoy your meal.
I ordered some edamame ($2.95), yellowtail and salmon sushi ($1.75 per piece), and the dynamite roll (spicy crunchy tuna, avocado and caviar, $7), washing it down with an Ito En iced green tea ($2.50).
The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the roll expertly crafted. The menu is pretty extensive; between their specialty house rolls and standard hand rolls there are over fifty choices which range from $3.95 – 13. They’ve also got teriyaki dinner platters, noodle soups, curry, and bento boxes. And, as to be expected, they offer daily lunch specials from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
I’m excited to explore it– with sushi spots on almost every block, it’s a nice surprise to find that this one seems to stand out.
