Don’t let Monday get you down, especially when there are some really interesting events to check out in our area this week, all either free or cheap — from advice on how to get your memoir started, to a film series about gentrification, to a talk on the history of pizza! Details on those events and more:

Start Your Memoir In One Evening
When: Monday, April 28, 6:30pm
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Author Sally Koslow will guide writers of all ages and skill levels in a workshop where you will learn to jumpstart your story so it’s compelling to others.
How much: Free!

Financial Literacy Workshop
When: Tuesday, April 29, 5pm to 7pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Do you have questions or concerns about your finances? Bring any financial documents you have up to the Park Slope library on Tuesday for one-on-one counseling with volunteers from NY Cares and other city non-profits.
How much: Free!

Union Street Film Series: Gentrification
When: Tuesday, April 29, 7pm
Where: Spoke the Hub Re:Creation Center, 748 Union Street
What: A series of films about that dirty word. Including: The Bed-Stuy, by Donal Foreman’s students in the Tribeca Teaches Program; Wet Cement, by Emily Tomasik (shown above); A Rare Medium Well Done, by David Hoon; and Clapping for the Wrong Reasons, by Khidr Joseph.
How much: $10 suggested donation

The History of Pizza In New York
When: Wednesday, April 30, 7pm
Where: Central Library, Brooklyn Connection, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Scott Wiener of Scott’s Pizza Tours will discuss the history of pizza in New York, with an emphasis on Brooklyn’s contribution to this culinary icon. There’s a reception that follows (where we have to hope there will be pizza).
How much: Free!

IRL Club: An Evening With The Internet
When: Wednesday, April 30, 7:30pm
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Check out one of the irregular series of talks about the internet, this time featuring The Kid Mero & Desus, Ayesha Siddiqi, Rob Dubbin, Emily Spivack, Leon Chang, and hosted by Adrian Chen.
How much: $3 at the door

TriviaTryst
When: Wednesday, April 30, 8:30pm
Where: The Rock Shop, 249 4th Avenue
What: Gather up your most knowledgeable friends and display your powerful brains (and temper that power with a drink or two, perhaps) during this trivia night where teams of up to 6 people can win $50 in prizes.
