How was everyone’s post-Valentine’s weekend? Romantic? Cathartic? Ice cold? I know it was almost-warm on Saturday, but last night’s temperature drop has wiped it clear from my memory.
This week is bringing a lot of comedy to the Slope, with a little bit of trivia and existential discourse peppered in. There’s something for everyone! Check it out:
Monday: Trivia fiends will want to stop by the Bell House tonight for another live recording of NPR’s Ask Me Another. Host Ophira Eisenberg puts questions to a rotating band of puzzle experts, audience members, and special mystery guests, while viewers get to watch the comedy unfold. This week’s special guest is Mike Rugnetta, host of PBS’ Idea Channel. Relax, laugh, and maybe learn something new.
149 Seventh Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenues, 8:00 p.m. show/7:30 p.m. pre-show/6:30 p.m. doors, $10 tickets available here.
Tuesday: Tea Lounge is hosting its own live comedy event, the very grandly named Meaning of Life Show. Watch as seven comics “exchange ideas, deconstruct the human condition, and try to find truth through comedy.” (No biggie.)
837 Union Street between 6th & 7th Avenues, 8:00-10:00 p.m., free.
Wednesday: Another day, another comedy lineup. Nick Turner & Acquaintances is a brand-new monthly standup show at Union Hall, hosted by the very funny Nick Turner (of Best Week Ever, pictured above). Joining him for his Union Hall debut are Wyatt Cenac, Nikki Glaser, Joe List, and a surprise guest. (!!!) And just to keep us on our toes, Nick is throwing some sketch comedy into the mix. Don’t miss it.
702 Union Street at 5th Avenue, 9:00 p.m. (8:30 doors), $8 tickets available here.
