Filmmaker Angela Snow reached out to the Stoop recently to spread the word about her nonprofit organization, The Yantalo International Volunteer Organization, which will be holding a fundraiser in Park Slope this weekend:

The main goal is building a house for volunteers who are working with our sister organization, The Yantalo Foundation. The Yantalo Foundation is building the first architecturally sustainable clinic in Peru, in the town of Yantalo. Partnering with universities in the US and Peru, the clinic will provide much needed medical and educational resources to the area. The Foundation averages about 80 volunteers a year, and that’s where our organization comes in, all the volunteers need a place to stay!

Three out of the eight members of the organization are Brooklynites themselves, and they’ve chosen Park Slope as the site for their final push for donations.

Stop by Pacific Standard (82 Fourth Avenue at St. Mark’s Place) this Saturday March 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. to help them reach their goal of $10,000. For a suggested donation of $20, payable at the door or online, you can enjoy a night of good company and Peruvian beer and food. If you can’t make the event but would still like to donate, you can do so via indiegogo.
