History In Your Hands: Playing With Food
When: Saturday September 28 & Sunday September 29, 2 & 3pm both days
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: Come to Lefferts for the final weekend of this “History In Your Hands,” and help staff to transform different foods and natural materials into tasty treats, fun games, and other crafts. Kids will help churn butter, grind corn, peel apples, and also learn how to make corn husk dolls and other fun crafts.
How much: $3 suggested donation
Fairy Tale Comics with Charise Mericle Harper, Brett Helquist, & Raina Telgemeier
When: Sunday September 29, 11am
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue
What: Kids ages four and up can meet three of the talented cartoonist contributors to the new comic anthology Fairy Tale Comics: Classic Tales Told by Extraordinary Cartoonists. Each cartoonist will introduce their fairy tale adaptation, and kids will have the opportunity to participate in a brief drawing workshop.
How much: Free!
Ready, Set, Kindergarten!
When: Sunday September 29 (and every following Sunday through November 10), 2:30 p.m.
Where: Central Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: The library’s six-session series of family fun is back, with stories and activities designed to encourage the development of early learning skills. Kids aged 3-5 years will explore literacy, science, and math through music, stories, crafts, and play. Families will also receive free materials to continue the fun and learning at home.
