After a little early rain, this weekend looks like it should be a nice one to get out and about in the neighborhood. If you’re looking for something to do close to home, some of the fun events include a giant book sale, a funny reading series, free lattes and sex tips, and a drunken poetry reading. Park Slope Library Book Sale Preview
When: Thursday, April 24, 5-7pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Get a jump on the competition for this weekend’s Park Slope Library book sale! Stop by for the preview night after work tonight to stock up on books for the rest of the year.
How much: $10, but it goes to a great cause, and you could score some of the hottest titles of the sale.

Brooklyn Reading Works: Funny Pages
When: Thursday, April 24, 8pm
Where: The Old Stone House, 336 3rd Street
What: A hilarious evening of funny writing curated by Marian Fontana with Billy Frolick, Marion Winik, Henry Alford, Karen Bergreen, and Leah Mitchell.
How much: $5 suggested donation includes wine and snacks

Two-Book Minimum
When: Friday, April 25, 9pm
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue
What: Writer-comedians  Dan Wilbur and Ross Hyzer host Roger Hailes (Comedy Central), Abbi Crutchfield (Vh1, MTV), Liam McEneaney (Tell Your Friends!), and Eric Grundhauser (My Damn Channel) for a night of stand-up, stories, and a few drunken ramblings about books.
How much: Free!

Park Slope Library Book Sale
When: Saturday, April 26, 10am-5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: No worries if you couldn’t make it to the preview sale, there will be plenty of books, DVDs, and more to go around on Saturday as the official book sale kicks off. Come out, grab a few new novels, and support our neighborhood branch.
How much: Free!

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
When: Saturday, April 26, 10am-6pm
Where: 78th Precinct, 65 6th Avenue
What: Our local police precinct is collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. They can only accept pills or patches — no liquids or needles/sharps — and the service is completely anonymous, with no questions asked.

Morning Buzz Sex Tips With Gorilla Coffee
When: Saturday, April 26, 3pm
Where: Babeland, 462 Bergen Street
What: Get a real pick-me-up at this workshop where Babeland is teaming up with their neighbors at Gorilla Coffee to give you lattes and a whole lotta ideas for adding more buzz to your morning romp. Arrive early — the first 10 customers will receive a Babeland mug filled to the brim with toys and beans and one lucky winner will win $100 worth of Babeland and Gorilla Coffee treats.

Spring Civic Sweep
When: Sunday, April 27, 10am-2pm
Where: Meet at J.J. Byrne Playground, 5th Avenue at 4th Street
What: Join your neighbors to spruce up our streets! From tree care to picking up litter to graffiti removal, there’s something everyone in the family can help with. There will also be electronics recycling, free milkweed plants (to attract butterflies!), refreshments, and live music.

What: Got a hankering for a lobster roll and an ice cream sandwich, and enjoying them al fresco in the park? The food trucks are back!

Poets In The Drunken Round 
When: Sunday, April 27, 2pm
Where: Mission Dolores, 249 4th Avenue
What: Celebrate National Poetry Month at this second annual reading! This year’s line-up: Denver Butson, Lorraine Doran, Diana Hannah-Taschen, Amy Hosig, and Jim Tolan.
