The 2013 Prospect Park Volunteer Corps season starts on March 25th, and registration is open for a full season of cleanup and beautification events.

The Corps organizes weekly events focused on different areas of the park in addition to special annual events. The season will kickoff on Saturday March 30 with the Opening Day Clean-Up, and they’re looking for help in sprucing up the park after what has been a long and sometimes brutal winter. Volunteers will spend the day raking leaves, edging sidewalks, and picking up litter from natural areas.

Anyone can join the Volunteer Corps: individuals, families, students, and even community and corporate groups. Those interested in volunteering must submit an application before they’ll be able to register for events. Fill out an online application here.

All volunteers who give 20 or more hours in a calendar year will be awarded by Borough President Marty Markowitz at the annual Volunteer Recognition Brunch.
