The mission of Second Chance Toys is twofold: make a difference in the life of a disadvantaged child, and keep non-biodegradable plastic out of our landfills.
Luckily those goals go hand in hand. By collecting “gently used” plastic toys twice a year and distributing them to organizations that care for children in need, Second Chance Toys is able to help both causes at the same time. This weekend, from 9:00am on Friday to 6:00pm on Monday, Kidville on Union Street will house one of these collection sites.
Second Chance accepts toys that are clean, are in working order (including working batteries), and have no missing or small parts (cannot fit through a toilet paper roll). The young company (founded in 2006) reached a landmark number last year when they collected over 100,000 toys. This year, grab the toys that your kids have forgotten and help them surpass that count.
Kidville is located at 808 Union Street at 7th Avenue.
