Volunteers continue to donate their time to families affected by Hurricane Sandy. This Sunday, March 24, you can help the Hurricane Sandy Relief Kitchen continue their services by stopping by Old First Reformed Church for a night of live music and good food. Each ticket sold helps bring assistance to the people who need it:
More than 4 months [after Sandy], so many people in the NY area are still without working kitchens and boilers. So many families are still living outside their homes without access to hot meals. HRSK continues to prepare 2,500 hot meals every week (Thursdays and Fridays) and delivers to independent relief sites where food is distributed. Please support HSRK in our efforts to continue helping our neighbors in the Rockaways, Gerritsen Beach, and Staten Island who really need it.
Live bands will play all night, including traditional Irish music at 5:00 p.m., the Judd Nielsen Organ Trio at 6:30 p.m., and Lo-Ball Souljazz with Ed Cherry at 8:00 p.m. The continuously refreshed buffet will include food generously donated from neighborhood restaurants, and drinks will be available at the cash bar. And there will be raffles! Who doesn’t love raffles? Who doesn’t love helping? It’s win-win all around.
729 Carroll Street at 7th Avenue, 5:00-10:00 p.m., tickets $20 at the door.
