Looking for a way to see the city from a different, more experienced perspective? Take part in Celebrating Our Seniors: A Walk Through Time, the citywide fundraiser that tells the story of New York through the eyes of its longest lived citizens.
The highlight of the day, which will take place on Sunday September 8, is Prospect Park’s “Walk Through Time.” This pre-set path highlights the New York experience one decade at a time starting with the 1940s, offering oral histories, crafts, music, and activities all meant to spark the sharing of memories. Registration is open to families, community organizations, and individuals of all ages, and participants are welcome to join in for as much or as little of the event as they choose.
Advanced registration is free (signing up costs $15 on the day of the event), but all collected pledges will go toward Aging in New York Fund’s efforts to improve life for older New Yorkers and champion innovative senior programming. The event runs from 11 am to 3 pm on Sunday September 9, beginning at the Prospect Park Bandshell Main Stage (9th Street entrance). Sign up here.
