The cupcake masterminds at Butter Lane are finally opening their classes up to the Park Slope community.

Beginning this Tuesday February 26, the 7th Avenue bakery will offer weekly two-hour lessons in making cupcakes the Butter Lane way. The classes are beginner-friendly and will cover three cupcake recipes (three different cakes and icings), instruction in working kitchen tools and an industrial convection oven, and decoration tips. You leave with four cupcakes, the famous Butter Lane recipe, and a souvenir apron (for an additional $20).

They’ve also got some fun in store for the kids. Beginning Sunday March 3, Butter Lane will host weekly sessions of Camp Cupcake, a class that mixes a love for baked goods and arts & crafts. Attendees will get to try their little hands at pastry art, decorating four cupcakes with toppings like sprinkles, popcorn, and marshmallows (which you then get to eat, because you’re the parent, and you said so). They’ll also have a chance to customize their own aprons and work on some fun themed crafts, like creating cupcake-shaped magnets.

Parents or guardians must be present (one adult per three children), but each adult gets a complimentary cupcake and drink.

240 Seventh Avenue. Adult classes run Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m., registration ($50) signup here. Camp Cupcake run Sundays from 1:00-2:30 p.m., registration ($40) sign up here.
