Robberies in Prospect Park Rise Slightly

Robberies in Prospect Park are up to 17 total this year, reports the New York Post, topping Central Park’s 13 in the same period:

Robberies more than doubled in Brooklyn’s biggest green space over the past year — even as Central Park’s numbers dropped by 13.3 percent.

There have been 17 robberies between Jan. 1 and Nov. 23 in Prospect Park, compared with seven in 2011 in the same time span.

At about 1.5 robberies per month, the park is up from slightly less than one robbery per month over 2011. Or, as the Post puts it, robberies are “soaring.”

    You always need to have “eyes behind your head”, it doesn’t matter where you are. Sad, but true.

    1.5 robberies per month? That is NOTHING compared with other big cities around the world or Prospect Park of years past..
