Though the NYPD reports a 9.8% decrease this year in robberiers within the 78th Precinct, accounts of recent crimes are revealing a sudden spike. This past week brought six documented robberies and 14 counts of larceny, as seen in this week’s CompStat report, which covers November 26 – December 2. Here are some more recent reportings:
• A 33-year-old woman was injured in a mugging at 6th Avenue and Garfield Place on December 8, DNAinfo reports. The thief took off with her credit cards, keys, and cash.
• A $900 bike chained to a pole on 2nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues was stolen on December 8, around 10:00am, Patch reports.
• A crook broke into a Douglass Street home between 4th and 5th Avenues on December 7 around 2:45pm. The victim found her door open and her $600 television stolen when she returned home, Brooklyn Paper reports.
