A 31-year-old man was attacked and robbed early Sunday, September 22 on 9th Street. The victim was walking home at around 3:45am between 6th and 7th Avenues when an assailant struck him with a bottle and took off with his iPhone. Neighbor Matthew Taub, the victim’s roommate, offered an update on his condition:
Luckily, the injuries aren’t too bad. A cut under his eye should heal on its own, the nose looks like it’s not broken but a 1 inch scar on the nose required stitches and may leave scarring, can’t tell that just yet but they did suture it nicely at Methodist Hospital. Luckily, it looks like there’s no concussion.
Please note that my roommate was NOT heavily intoxicated– he was at a bar, drinking with friends, but simply walking home for the evening. He woke me up when I got home, in obvious distress, and we called 911, at which time he was attended to medically and showed the police where the incident occurred before we headed into the hospital.
Matthew has been canvassing the area seeking resident surveillance footage and/or witness accounts and can be reached at email@example.com. Anyone with information can reach the police through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or through the 78th Precinct at (718) 636-6411.
