Third Factory, a temporary bookstore, workspace, and print gallery from Ugly Duckling Presse recently opened in the storefront of the Old American Can Factory at 242 3rd Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues. In addition to selling books, chapbooks, letterpress prints, and more, it will be an an active workspace and a venue for events like poetry readings.
On Saturdays, the space will function as an active workspace for the binding of chapbooks and other UDP projects. On weekdays, Third Factory’s artists-in-residence Woody Leslie and Sarah Anne Wallen will be working on a variety of book projects, and the space will host several poetry readings, performances, and bookbinding workshops through the month of February — check their events page for updates.
Coming up this Saturday, February 1, at 12pm and going as long as the “paper and typewriter ribbon last,” stop by and poet Chris Hosea will write a free, original poem just for you.
Third Factory is open Thursday through Tuesday from 12-6pm.
