Stationery chain Paper Source opened at 87 Seventh Avenue (near Union St) this morning, in the space that previously held Plaza Cleaners. They’re ready for Park Slope with aisles of stationery, notebooks, gift wrap, stamps, and– it is Brooklyn, after all– plenty of mustache imagery.
The shop– which has its other Brooklyn location in Cobble Hill– offers not just a large selection of paper goods and little gifts, but also in-store workshops. Though they have none scheduled yet, they host how-to classes in letterpress, stenciling, embossing, and more. They also hold private crafting parties.
Though there’s been some criticism about more chain stores popping up — and this is just a few blocks down from another stationery store store, Lion in the Sun – the neighbors who were stopping in while we were there seemed enthusiastic about this new shop.
“I love this store,” said one woman who stopped in to check it out, adding, “I’m really glad you’re not a bank!”
Paper Source is located at 87 Seventh Avenue, 347-557-0090, and their hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-7pm, Sunday 11am-5pm.
