Here’s Park Slope announced that Nolita-based women’s boutique Poppy is opening a Park Slope branch in the former Bob and Judi’s space, which means goodbye, mermaid bottle-openers and hello, boyfriend jeans.
Like the Nolita version, the new 5th Avenue store (between President and Union Streets) will feature a “well-edited mix of indy and established contemporary collections” — right now, their website features designs by Otis and McClain, J. Brand. Wren, Elizabeth and James, and Citizens of Humanity, among others.
RackedNY reports that owner Leslie Mckeown, a Park Sloper herself, signed the lease on August 1st “after hearing from several moms that she should bring a Poppy outpost to the area.” Apparently the space is currently a little more “demolished shell” and a little less “haven of ultra-feminine style,” but Mckeown’s still shooting for an October 1st open.
Based on the select merchandise listed on the website, a bunch of magazine listings, and 10 Yelp reviews (2 filtered), it sounds like the store’s going to fit right in with the other women’s boutiques along 5th in terms of general character (skinny jeans, baby doll dresses, on-trend but questionably flattering cropped tanks). But the designer-focus doesn’t come cheap – Boutiqued says clothing runs $50-$300+, with jewelry between $50 and $175. Luckily, we hear they’ve got an excellent sale rack.
