Bergen Street restaurant Melt, which has been shuttered since this past weekend, is rumored to have been shut down by the Department of Health. Here’s Park Slope noted on Monday that a sign was posted saying that they had been “temporarily closed for renovation,” but the sign has since been removed. Commenters here on the site have stated that employees at Melt confirmed the DOH’s involvement.
Their latest inspection on September 5 got them 60 points in sanitary violations, 7 of them critical, which may explain the closure. The restaurant is not listed as being shut down, which means they might just be preparing for a follow-up inspection. Ungraded inspections (as this one is) usually signify an initial inspection, and will result in a second, graded inspection within a month.
We’ve reached out to the restaurant for comment and will update with more information as we get it.
