If you’re looking for a fun and enriching way to spend a Saturday morning with your little one, check out these two new family music programs, each celebrating their first session on February 2.
Local musician and mom Katie Scheele is teaching a music class for babies aged 6 weeks-1 year on Saturday mornings, 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m, at the Gowanus Arts Building. The class includes singing, movement, instrumental performances, introduction to rhythm, use of small instruments (tambourines, shakers, etc.) and many other age-appropriate developmental activities. The 8-week session costs $160, and Katie offers an optional instrument/prop bag ($20) which contains mini instruments, shakers, and toys.

Union Temple begins their free drop-in morning program this Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The cross-cultural interfaith program aimed at kids 0-6 years old and offers an interactive and fun-filled environment for families to come together to sing, dance, and tell stories. The activities are designed to explore themes like peace, charity, and community. Leading the event are Avodah Dance’s Julie Gayer Kris, Backyardigans Live!’s Shawn Shafner, and Ruach Rocker Jay Rapoport. The program will continue for the first three Saturdays of the month, now through June.
